The Leopard’s Links

The Stoke Stanza at The Leopard, Burslem, is one of many Poetry Society Stanzas around the country. You don’t have to be a member of The Poetry Society to attend or get involved.

Here are some links to Poetry Society web pages and events, as well as other local, regional and national sites you may find helpful.

We have good contacts with writers’ groups across our region and beyond. If you would like us to provide a link to your group or activity or to collaborate with us in some way, please get in touch.

Can http://www.risingbrookwriters.org.uk (Stafford Writers’ Group) be a link to your site please?

Your wish is my command! Only too happy to do so. Perhaps some of you from Rising Brook might like to bob over sometime? You’d be very welcome.

can http;//maccwriters.wordpress.com/ be a link on your site, please. We are Macclesfield Creative Writing Group.
We are having reading from our anthology Macc Writes on October 3rd (Thursday) at 7.30pm at King Edward Street Unitarian chapel, Macclesfield. Tickets £4 incl refreshments, and can be booked on 01625 871426 or 07985495732 or on the door on the night.
    It is a fantastic venue.

  4. Hi,
I’m a member of The Renegade Writers group (though I would stress I’m not the organiser of it, though I am good friends with Jan and Peter who do)
I’m playing with ideas to raise the profile of creative writing in the Potteries. I don’t know about you, but we have really struggled for the arts bodies locally to take us seriously, Hot Air being a case in point where we have tried to get involved for the last two years and been ignored. In this regard I wondered if your group might be interested in a semi-serious competition that we could promote in the local media? I was thinking of something on the lines of a ‘Battle of the Bands’ but, in our case, Prose vs Poetry, ie Flash-fiction v short poems? Not sure of the details yet but the idea would perhaps be a home and away fixture in an evening (we meet weekly in the Bridge St Ale House in Newcastle) and then perhaps at the Leopard.
In principle, what are your thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea to me. Let’s have a chat about it. I’m not at the next Stanza session at The Leopard on 14th July but I am around all summer … drop me a line and let’s see if we can get together to discuss.
